I want to thank Ben and Mena, Six Apart, and Vox for a lovely home here for the past year or so. I really like this blogging platform, but I decided I'd prefer to host my blog on Leoville.com, so new posts will now go to

I'll keep this Vox blog alive as long as they'll let me because I have numerous videos and images hosted here and I don't want to lose them. Every post here has been moved to the new blog, however, as have all my posts from a variety of old blogs going back to 2001. Some of the older posts make for pretty good reading.

I thought I'd just stop by the AT&T store at noon just to see if there was a line. There was, and fearing I wouldn't get a phone in time to review it for Saturday's radio show I got out my folding chair and joined the line as number 13. Six hours later I got my iPhone. This is the last video from my poor old Nokia N95.

I'm in the middle of the radio show so I'll make this brief. I can't search on Google. In Firefox, Safari, and directly from the Google site I get the same error message:

Even when I supply the captcha it refuses to perform the search.

Has anyone seen this before? This is bizarre! It's only happening on my Mac. The PC on the same network works fine. Must be something I'm running on the Mac. (Stickam? Wakoopa?)

apparently, i have always been concerned with the future of media.

Back in 1988, my high school newspaper was produced using actual physical typesetting, paper proofs, and a printing press. It was a month long process that involved weeks of going back and forth calling in font size changes and approving "blues". As a sophomore, I made the radical suggestion that we abandon traditional newspaper production and start making a weekly that we'd create using this crazy new thing called "desktop publishing software" (on our hot new Macintosh II), cheap photo processing from the drug store, and the school's office copier. All of this was unheard of at the time (remember: this is nineteen-eighty-eight) and I went on to give workshops on fast publishing at high school journalism conferences. A lot of teachers complained that my method wasn't preparing students for a career in "real" journalism.

This one action should explain everything I've ever done since.
